Shadow Aspect Final film

Evaluation 1

Evaluation 1
There’s little narrative in our film to create suspense and allow the audience to imagine what would happen. We wanted our character Cammy to be silent, to give the impression that she is unusual, we used voiceovers to create the voices’ in Cammy’s head, to portray the psychological issues she has, this may suggest to the audience that her actions are unjustified and out of her control.

Our chosen genre is psychological horror, as Cammy suffers with mental illness that persuades her to harm her ‘friends’.
'Psyhco' is another psychological horror that contains mysterious characters and that are mentally effected. This links with our film as we also use a character a mysterious character that doesn't speak and suffers with mental health issues. Psycho also links in with our film with the use of knifes and blood.
We did an eyeline match shot as Cammy looks at her blood covered hands, we used extreme close up to show Cammy typing, an over shoulder shot onto the computer screen and as Cammy looks down to Owen, we used a long shot to show Cammy lurking and watching Owen from afar, a tilt shot to show Cammy taking the knife from her bag, and as she washes her hands in the sink.

We used a blur effect to suggest disorientation and confusion, we used a fade to white to black to transition into the next clip, and we used a match on action as Josh opens the door and when Cammy removes the knife from her bag.

In the intro of our film when Cammy’s hands are covered in blood, we used a grim booming sound to suggest something unsettling just occurred, after that clip we have a fast past noise that cuts off abruptly, to Cammy’s hands on the laptop. We allowed diegetic sound of birds and wind whilst Owen is talking to drop tension. When Cammy shows her blood covered hands again we use another fast pace sound that cuts abruptly to the next scene.

We used fake blood, to give the impression that Cammy has hurt or killed someone. As our characters are college students, we dressed like causal college students and our location was within college and a discrete location, so that nobody could witness Cammy’s actions.
We used a shadow like effect for our title to suit the name of our film ‘Shadow Aspect'.

Evaluation 2

 Evaluation 2
Our social groups is teenagers, mainly college students that may be struggling identity,  our three characters are college students, that have demonstrated stereotypes,  Owen for example is on his way to his ITC and like a typical teenager, he is running late, a stereotype in our film is that teenagers are always on their phone, we portray this when Owen is on his phone to Josh.

Cammy portrays how teenagers are always on social media and that teenagers become consumed by what they see online, and how easy it is to access pictures and information of people online , allowing people to make dangerous assumptions, we show this by using extreme close ups onto the computer screen. This is a teenage stereotype as many people assume that teenagers are irresponsible online, and that they are they cause of cyber bullying as they can anonymously harass others.
A horror film that uses teenage stereotypes is 'Friday the 13th', the stereotype in this film is teenagers up to no good, underage drinking and inappropriate behaviour, resulting in being killed a masked man with a knife, the knife links in with our film.

Cammy portrayed a gothic like stereotype, we portray this by the use of mise en scene, she sits alone in the dark room whilst online, she wears dark clothes and lacks in facial emotion, an example of this is when she walks past the camera towards Owen and the close up of her on the laptop.
'The Orphan' is another psychological horror, that has a young girls dressed in a gothic way, this adds to her characters mysteriousness.
