Weapons
Weapons in horror films are a vital aspect of the plot and experience. however in psychological horrors, non physical weapons are used and instead are more supernatural or psychologically based. for instance,n using fear as a weapon to physically and mentally incapacitate victims, as they are too scared to move or act.
Setting
There are many conventions for settings of a psychological horror film, like, a forest, which connotes mystery, making it perfect for a psychological horror, due to mystery being a key theme of the genre. another effective setting would be inside a house. this is effective, because the setting defies conventions, as homes usually have connotations of safety, creating a suprise for the audience.
Characters
Often in psychological horrors, the antagonists are disturbed or tormented indivisuduals who become internal monsters and loose their morality. The victim is often female, as in horror films, women are represented to be weaker and vunrable.
